LARPD is seeking a summer intern to support the LARPD Volunteer Program. Applicants should have the equivalent of one year of college credits completed toward a degree. Candidates interested in learning about recreation, volunteer management, and communications with a government agency will be given preference. Interested candidates should complete an application online. The intern will be responsible for key deliverables while learning about special districts and the Livermore community.
Key duties:
Be the point of contact for Summer Youth Volunteers.
Assist with volunteer training sessions throughout the summer.
Oversee volunteer schedule and track volunteer hours.
Create program completion documents and assist with planning an end-of-summer recognition event.
Key deliverables:
Maintain volunteer hour tracking and create an end-of-summer recap report.
Complete summer training and check-in reports.
Create and distribute volunteer completion certification with hours totals for all summer volunteers.
What learning will occur for the intern?
Experience managing volunteers and learn how summer programs work in a special district.
Gain familiarity with volunteer management software and end-of-summer reports.
Work closely with Youth to establish a solid work ethic and routine.
Help Youth with communicating clearly and building responsibility.
Timing:
May 28th- August 7th. Interns may start and end later but need to be present for the core sessions slated for the entire month of June, July, and through August 7th.
Work hours will be 40 hours per week during the 12 weeks of employment with normal office hours and occasional evening or weekend work. The pay rate will be $20 per hour. All interns will be required to successfully complete a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and undergo a TB test as a condition of employment.
